This 16 week terrorism training course is delivered totally online and has intakes three times a year. It is available in any time zone and on demand whenever it is convenient for you to study. After completing the core module, a range of elective modules are available which allow participants to study the facets of terrorism most relevant to their own interests. Participants choose three of these modules to qualify for the Certificate, although they can also be studied individually.

The modules are delivered as interactive e-learning lessons and have associated online discussion forums, plus end of module self-assessment tests. A module is released every four weeks with participants required to pass a multiple choice online exam and a written assignment. The learning management system monitors your progress and ensures you re-enter lessons at the point you left them.

Although this terrorism education and training programme is designed as a 16-week programme, the need for flexibility in some individuals' study programmes due to varying work commitments is recognised. Participants are able to request to defer to the next intake, and for up to a maximum of one year, without any additional fees.

Successful participants are awarded a certificate of study by the prestigious University of St Andrews (Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence), with the course accredited at level seven of the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework.

Participants can study additional elective modules in order to again accreditation in more areas.

Dear Colleague

If it's part of your responsibility to protect people, infrastructure, organisations or investments, you need to understand the threats, then prepare and implement best practice strategies to reduce risk from terrorist threats.

Established in September 2006, in partnership with Informa, our Certificate in Terrorism Studies is the first transnational terrorism e-learning course to provide individuals, military, and police, as well as public and private sector organisations with an understanding of the latest thinking on terrorism and homeland security.

Knowing how and why terrorists plot against civilians, governments, corporations, commercial operations, transport or IT networks makes an unmistakable difference to an organisation's security strategies. The knowledge you will gain from this unique terrorism training course will prove invaluable in combating the ever present threat to security.

This Certificate in Terrorism Studies delivers excellence via globally accessible e-learning, and can be studied from anywhere - all you need is an internet connection.

We look forward to receiving your application to enrol.
